The Cause

We’ve selected four local non-profits to give back to this holiday season through our Ornaments for a Cause. With the purchase of the paper ornament, you’ll select one of the four causes and it will be donated to that cause, from there, you can sign the ornament if you choose and we’ll hang it on our tree to display for the season. Ornaments are $3 cash or $4 with credit (and online).

MEET OUR NON-PROFITS:

THE SPIRIT KITCHEN: The Spirit Kitchen is located right next door to Love Your Mama. It is a free food ministry, serving hot meals daily with no questions ask and hosting a free grocery day once a week. They serve 80-100 meals and groceries to 60-80 families in our local community on a weekly basis. Volunteers plan, shop, prep and serve the meals to anyone who enters their doors.

DEBRIEFING THE FRONT LINES: After witnessing a unique and complex occupational trauma that is affecting the collective Nursing profession, DTFL was born in March 2020, when it became clear that nurses needed a psychologically safe, judgement free space to free their emotions. Their mission is to deliver psychological first aid, sustained emotional wellness programs and continuing education (CEU’s) to Nurses across all specialties. You may have met Kathleen, an associate here at LYM, her daughter is the founder of DTFL.

WORCESTER COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY: Lizzie’s late husband Alex started fundraisers, under the name of Arts for the Animals, to raise funds for the local animal shelter. Years before he and Lizzie met, he adopted Zee, their late beagle, from WCHS and Zee filled their hearts and home with love so Alex continued to give back. This is a private, no-kill shelter. WCHS focuses on optimizing pets’ health and welfare both within and beyond the walls of their organization. Their main goal is to stop animal overpopulation, and put themselves out of business.

DIAKONIA: Diakonia is the only comprehensive provider for homeless men, women, families and veterans on the Lower Eastern Shore. They provide shelter, food, clothing and program services to help rebuild lives, one step at a time. Over the past 10 years, Diakonia has expanded their services to include case management, housing assistance, homeless prevention, and veteran services.
